I created this blog because some stories cannot — and should not — live only between the covers of a book.
Bloodshed for Power tells a specific story rooted in real events, real people, and a pivotal moment in Uganda’s history. But in the process of writing it, I came to understand that the story extends far beyond the narrative itself. It raises questions about power, justice, memory, and the long-lasting consequences of political violence — questions that deserve continued reflection and discussion.
This blog exists to explore those questions.
More Than a Companion to the Book
This is not a promotional space, nor is it a news blog. I see it as a reading room — a place to slow down and engage more deeply with the themes, events, and human experiences that surround Bloodshed for Power.
Here, I will share:
- Historical context that sits behind the events described in the book
- Reflections on particular chapters, investigations, and decisions
- Extended excerpts and commentary
- Personal recollections and moral questions raised by the story
- Archival material and documentation where available
Some posts will focus on history and chronology. Others will focus on the personal and human cost of living through these events. All are written with the same intention: to preserve truth, encourage careful reflection, and resist the easy forgetting of difficult histories.
A Space for Readers, Not Spectators
This blog is also meant to be a shared space.
Readers are welcome to engage thoughtfully — to reflect, to question, and, where appropriate, to discuss. Comments are enabled not to provoke argument, but to allow considered conversation. History is not static, and neither is how we come to understand it over time.
If the book is about uncovering what was buried, then this blog is about keeping that uncovering alive.
How to Read This Blog
Posts are organised by theme rather than chronology. You may choose to read alongside the book, return to specific chapters, or encounter ideas here independently of the printed narrative.
There is no required order — only an invitation to read attentively.
Looking Forward
More than fifty years passed before this story could be told openly. This blog exists so that its implications are not buried again.
Thank you for reading, and for taking the time to engage with a difficult and necessary history.

It is an interesting take through a different lens. History has a way of reminding you there is nothing new under the sun.
